Uighurs denounce Xi Jinping policies involving Han Chinese overlords as ‘cultural genocide’

World Tribune, 20 February 2014

The Chinese Communist Party is implementing a new cycle of “strike hard” campaign to exterminate what Chinese ethnic-affairs cadres call the “cancer cells” of separatism, ethnic radicalism and religious extremism that appear to be spreading in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region (XAR).

Since April 2013, riots and disturbances, including at least six major “terrorist” incidents in western and southern Xinjiang, have resulted in total deaths of over 100.

Obviously, the Chinese Dream mantra conjured up by President Xi Jinping does not seem to be working among the 9 million-odd Uighurs living in China’s biggest province.

Supremo Xi’s latest instructions on Xinjiang have been studied in closed-door sessions since early 2014 by officials in XAR headed by Party Secretary Zhang Chunxian, who used to have the reputation of a moderate cadre.

According to Xinjiang media, Zhang cited the latest instructions given by Xi: “We must use the law and the strike hard campaign to solve issues of violence.”
