The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) is an international umbrella organisation that represents the collective interest of the Uyghur people both in East Turkistan and abroad and promotes Uyghur human rights, freedom and a peaceful and non-violent solution based on the rule of law. The WUC carries out advocacy work in international institutions, including the EU institutions, the United Nations and other multilateral bodies as well as in national parliaments around the world. 

Our mission is to advance the rights of Uyghurs. To achieve this goal, we work with governments, parliaments, policymakers, journalists, international organisations and Uyghur groups around the world. 

The WUC is seeking an excellent candidate to join our dynamic team in the permanent position of Administrative Officer. 

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Manage office supplies stock and place orders
  • Grant management
  • Maintain and update the organisation’s database
  • Organise a filing system for important and confidential organisation documents
  • Answer queries by employees and relevant stakeholders
  • Update office policies as needed
  • Maintain an organisation calendar and schedule appointments
  • Distribute and store correspondence (e.g. letters, emails and packages)
  • Arrange travel and accommodations
  • Organise in-house and external events

PROFILE OF THE CANDIDATE

  • Proven work experience as an Administrative Officer, Administrator or similar role
  • Solid knowledge of office procedures
  • Experience with office management software like MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically)
  • Strong organisational skills with a problem-solving attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous
  • High school diploma; additional qualifications in Office Administration are is an advantage
  • Fluency in English is required; other languages (especially German) are an asset
  • Knowledge of the Uyghur human rights situation and/or human rights in China would be an advantage
