“As time is going, we are kind of losing hope. So again we ask the State Department and especially the White House to condemn China,” Jawdat said. “As China [has] said many times, the U.S. cannot intervene in their internal affairs but right now China is controlling American citizens.”

“It’s really hard for me to personally imagine that one government used my mom and played that kind of a special game to silence me,” he explained. “But it’s scary at the same time to know that my government in the U.S. is not doing something to prevent that threat from coming to me.”
