Ms. Zubayra Shemsiden (USA)

Ms. Zubayre Shamsidin was born Ghulja City in East Turkistan .  After graduating from East China Pedagogical  University in 1990 with a degree in Information Science, she worked in  Xinjiang branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.  From 1991 to 1992, after graduating from the East Kazakhstan Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Russian language and diplomacy, she continued her work at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She emigrated to Australia in 1993 becoming  board member of the East Turkestan Association of Australia.  From 1996 to 2009, she served as director and secretary of the Uyghur Language School in South Australia.  In the meantime She graduated master’s degree at the University of South Australia in two fields, namely information science and international science. She has wok at the University of Adelaide, the South Australian Bureau of Education, the South Australian Multicultural and International Relations Office, and the Australian Refugee Association.

Ms. Zubeyre served as the Executive Director of the International Uyghur Foundation for Human Rights and Democracy, which was established under the leadership of Ms. Rabiya Kadir from 2009 to 2013. She has been working as a project manager on Uyghur human rights projects since 2013.  Zubeyre was a 2016-2018 Fellow at the Centre for woman, faith &leadership of the Institute for Global Engagement’s.

In addition to her mother tongue, Ms. Zubeyre is fluent in Uzbek, Turkish, Russian, English and Chinese.
