As the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics – the most controversial Games since Berlin 1936 and Moscow 1980 – are set to begin in just two days, mounting human rights concerns loom large.

WUC Program and Advocacy Manager Zumretay Arkin spoke to the Guardian about meetings with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who completely disregarded the suffering of Uyghurs and other affected ethnic groups in China.
