From May 3-6, the World Uyghur Congress will proudly celebrate its 20th anniversary, a testament to two decades of unwavering commitment to the Uyghur cause.
Established on April 16, 2004, in Munich, the WUC emerged during a period of global upheaval, boldly representing the voices of the Uyghur people and becoming a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of immense challenges. Over the past two decades, the WUC has achieved remarkable success in bringing attention to the human rights abuses and genocide inflicted upon the Uyghur community. Notably, our advocacy efforts have led to two Nobel Peace Prize nominations in 2023 and 2024.
To commemorate this milestone, the WUC will host celebrations in Munich, Germany, a poignant hub for the Uyghur diaspora in Europe. The 20th anniversary event will feature a rich tapestry of activities, including panel discussions, speeches, networking opportunities, and cultural events. From stirring musical concerts to vibrant outdoor picnics, our gathering will not only honor the historical struggles of the Uyghur people but also reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the pursuit of freedom and human rights.
Joined by approximately 300 participants, including Uyghur activists, community leaders, camp survivors, allies, government officials, and civil society representatives from over 25 countries, our conference will serve as a powerful platform for solidarity, dialogue, and collective action. Together, we will continue to raise our voices, advocate for justice, and stand in solidarity with the Uyghur community.
