PRESS RELEASE: INTERNATIONAL GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION
On 1st October, the 71st anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, a coalition of human rights groups representing Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hongkongers, Southern Mongolians, Taiwanese and Chinese human rights defenders are launching a Global Day of Action.
The World Uyghur Congress is mobilizing all its affiliate organisations around the world to hold a joint protest on October 1st. Protests will be held in 35 cities in 18 countries around the world as the groups living under Chinese oppression call on the world to take urgent actions and hold China accountable for its grave human rights violations. As Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hongkongers, Southern Mongolians have been deprived of their voice by the Chinese government, those of us living outside of the rule of the CCP must loudly raise ours on their behalf. We encourage anyone interested to support the different groups by joining a demonstration in a city near you. The full list of participating cities and times of the protests is listed below:
*Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the time of certain protests have not been confirmed yet. If you wish to attend the protest, we urge you to contact the listed representative to receive updated information.
