An open letter of congratulation to the Prime Minister of Japan Mr Shinzo Abe

By WUC President, 25 December 2012

Your Excellency,

It is with upmost pleasure that I have the great honour of writing to you today to express my congratulations on behalf of the World Uyghur Congress (WUC) upon hearing of your appointment as the Prime Minister of Japan and the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan’s victory in the December elections.

I can confidently speak on behalf of all the Uyghurs around the world, and in particular those residing in Japan, of their deep appreciation and great respect for your leadership in Japan and your work in the development of universality of human rights not only in Asia but through out the globe. We are all deeply honoured and humbled to know that we have your friendship and support for the Uyghur people.

We thoroughly look forward to developing and strengthening further the friendship between the Uyghur people and the great nation of Japan. We hope that the Japanese-Uyghur Parliamentary Friendship group, to which you took a leading role in establishing, will play a prominent role in promoting further knowledge of the Uyghur issue in the Japanese Diet.

Allow me to therefore to again take the opportunity to congratulate you once more, and to wish you the best of luck during your term in office.

Yours sincerely,

Rebiya Kadeer

President of the World Uyghur Congress
