The World Uyghur Congress is pleased to announce that it will hold its 6th General Assembly from November 10-12, 2017 in Munich, Germany. The General Assembly will begin with an opening ceremony on Friday, November 10, from 10:00–12:30 at the Hotel Cristal, located at Schwanthalerstraße 36, 80336, Munich.

Following the opening ceremony, the event will continue until November 12. Delegates will elect new WUC leadership and allow members of the Uyghur community around the world to gather together to speak to one another and discuss the most effective direction of the organization in the coming years and to develop our working strategy in order to more effectively raise the Uyghur issue in international fora. The bylaw of the WUC will also be amended and approved according to the delegates. In addition, the General Assembly will discuss and develop methods to provide greater support for peaceful advocacy.

Immediately following the General Assembly, the WUC will hold a two-day training seminar for the newly elected leadership from November 13-14 – namely for the leaders of the WUC’s affiliates around the world to ensure the most effective support and engagement at the national level in critical countries.

The meeting will prove to be the most important since the founding of the organization back in 2004 with the merger of the East Turkestan National Congress and the World Uyghur Youth Congress.
