WUC welcomes the Resolution 497 of the House of Representatives of Congress of the USA
The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) welcomes the Resolution 497 of the House of Representatives of Congress of the United States of America wich called on the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) to immediately release the children of Mrs Rabiyee Kadeer and Canadian citizen Huseyin Celil and refrain from further engaging in acts of cultural, linguistic and religious suppression directed against the entire Uyghur people in East Turkestan ( also known as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region).
The WUC, as the sole representative of the Uyghur people abroad , sincerely appreciates the members of the House of Representatives for their support of the human rights of the Uyghur people and joins them in calling the government of the Peoples Republic of China to respect the basic rights of the people
inside its borders.
By releasing all political prisoners, including Mrs. Kadeer’s sons and Mr. Celil, in East Turkestan the Peoples Republic of China could take a positive step in the right direction with regards to providing basic rights to the Uyghur people.
The WUC hopes that the recent Resolution of the House of Representatives of the United States of America would serve as a precedence for the international community to put more pressure on China urging it to cease violation of the human rights of the Uyghur people.
