WUC President Speaks on Organ Harvesting at Roundtable in the UK Parliament

On 13 December 2017, WUC President Dolkun Isa participated in a roundtable discussion in the UK Parliament on organ harvesting in China. The roundtable was co-hosted by Members of the UK Parliament Jim Shannon and Fiona Bruce and aimed to raise awareness of the practice of forced organ harvesting in China. It assembled a panel of expert speakers to speak on this important issue and to discuss what steps the UK government could take to stop this barbaric practice.

WUC General Secretary Speaks at IGFM Press Conference

On 7 September 2017, the General Secretary of the World Uyghur Congress, Dolkun Isa, spoke at a press conference entitled “Is China a partner for democratic states?”. The press conference was organized by the International Society for Human Rights (IGFM) and held at their offices in Frankfurt, Germany. It brought together human rights activists to discuss the numerous human rights violations occurring in China and how China has increasingly been using its economic might to silence criticism of its human rights record.

UNPO  The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), in collaboration with the World Uyghur Congress (WUC), will convene a conference at the European Parliament entitled “Forbidden to Move, Forbidden to Pray: The Plight of the Uyghurs in China”.Hosted by Ilhan Kyuchyuk MEP (ALDE) the event will aim to draw attention to the intensification of the oppression of the Uyghurs of East Turkestan, specifically looking at the systematic denial of their right to freedom of movement and belief. Brussels — The World Uyghur Congress (WUC), in collaboration with the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), PEN Uyghur Centre and French PEN, will convene a conference entitled ‘Uyghur Mother Tongue Rights in China – Perspectives, Challenges and Policy’ in Paris on 21 February 2014 to mark the 15th Anniversary of UNESCO’s International Mother Tongue Day. Two panels of experts will discuss international standards for minority language protection and raise awareness about assimilationist and discriminatory policies endangering the Uyghur language in East Turkestan.
