The World Uyghur Congress is proud to announce that we will be holding a three-day Uyghur human rights advocacy training workshop in partnership with the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) and the Sweden Uyghur Education Union from October 13-15 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The workshop will bring together more than 50 interested Uyghur participants and will focus on improving their capacity to engage in human rights advocacy on Uyghur issues at the local and national level. It will provide participants with practical strategies to engage on issues important to Uyghurs including the practice of human rights advocacy in the Swedish context and the use of social media and other online tools in that pursuit.

Uyghur Friendship Group Announcement

UNPO — On 19 October 2017, the newly-formed Uyghur Friendship Group, in collaboration with MEPs Ilhan Kyuchyuk and Csaba Sógor will host an event to stimulate the sharing of ideas between MEPs, representatives of NGOs, scholars and members of the Uyghur community. This will start with a conference, immediately followed by an opening ceremony and a cultural event with the aim to internationally raise the profile of the Uyghur heritage.

WUC General Secretary Speaks at IGFM Press Conference

On 7 September 2017, the General Secretary of the World Uyghur Congress, Dolkun Isa, spoke at a press conference entitled “Is China a partner for democratic states?”. The press conference was organized by the International Society for Human Rights (IGFM) and held at their offices in Frankfurt, Germany. It brought together human rights activists to discuss the numerous human rights violations occurring in China and how China has increasingly been using its economic might to silence criticism of its human rights record.

Italian Politicians Call on Parliament to Explain Uyghur Exile Leader’s Detention
